Two Certified Nurse Assistant classes graduate on the same day!
In the first of its kind, Goodwill SOLAC had two Certified Nurse Assistant (C.N.A.) training classes graduate on the same day! This unusual occurrence came about because of COVID-19.
In partnership with the Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD), in January of 2020, the High School C.N.A. #10E class began their C.N.A. training. However, the class had to abruptly close in March 2020 when LBUSD determined to cease all extracurricular activities for its students due to COVID-19. Class #10E had just completed the theory portion of training and were set to begin their clinical rotation when the class closed. The students were devastated.
Fast forward to today, these students graduated from their respective high schools, Goodwill SOLAC launched an online C.N.A. training program, and these eleven students (now adults) re-enrolled in the program and on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, sat for their State of California C.N.A. credential tests and passed! They, along with the students enrolled in Class #69 (comprised of eleven general population adults) who also successfully passed their credentialing tests on January 26th, have been offered job opportunities at the very clinical site where they trained.
So, to class #10E and class #69, congratulations on becoming nurses! Way to go!
